Methodology
How LexLint decides what it reads, how it checks it, and how it reads frameworks against it.
-
What the law library holds
Every document LexLint reads, or reads against, is law, guidance, a framework or policy, and one question decides which: who can hold you to it?
-
How a law is researched and checked
Each law is researched from its official text with AI assistance, and its citations are checked against primary sources. The law library is rebuilt every day, and every law carries the date it was last checked. How current the law data is and AI and this site say more.
-
When a law binds
Every law shows where it stands: in force, not yet in force, blocked by a court, proposed, no longer in force, or never in force. Only a duty in force raises a warning in a lint run. The glossary defines each.
-
How frameworks are read against the law
Each published framework is read against the laws in its field, control by control. A mapping says a law bears on a control, never that running the control meets the law. How we read a framework against the law sets out the method.
