What it requires
- Do not produce, transport, reproduce, or possess a visual depiction of a minor engaging in sexually explicit conduct, including a computer-generated or digitally altered image of a minor; this statute's definition already reaches an AI-generated or AI-altered depiction without needing separate AI-specific language.
- An identifiable-minor depiction is covered even where it was created or modified using an image of the minor taken at another time, and proof of the minor's actual identity is not required.

What this law does
Section 11-9-1.3 defines "child pornography" to include a visual depiction that is a digital image, computer image, or computer-generated image of a minor engaging in sexually explicit conduct, or one that has been created, adapted, or modified to display an identifiable minor engaging in such conduct, alongside the ordinary case of an actual minor's image.
This wording replaced the section's original 2001 text: P.L. 2004, ch. 586 enacted it on , and P.L. 2004, ch. 612 enacted the identical wording again on . The definition already reaches an AI-generated or AI-altered depiction and carries no separate reference to artificial intelligence.
Production, transport, or reproduction of covered material is punishable by a fine of not more than $5,000 and imprisonment of not more than fifteen years, or both; mere possession is punishable by not more than $5,000 and five years, or both.
