What it requires

What it makes you log
Logging duty
Section 3(3) limits copyright in a compilation of data or other material to the compilation and leaves the data unprotected by it. It sets no duty to create, keep or produce a log or record. Section 57-A of the Ordinance, which the row does not cite, requires a person who publishes a record or video film of a Pakistani work to display the maker's and owner's particulars on it, a labelling duty on the product. The section carries no territorial clause.

What this law does
Section 3(3) provides that entitlement to copyright in a compilation of data or other material does not extend to the data or other material itself, and is without prejudice to any copyright subsisting in that data or material separately; the compilation's copyright subsists only to the extent of the compilation.
Pakistan confers no sui generis database right of the kind the EU Database Directive creates: a scraper that takes the underlying data or material out of a Pakistani compilation, without reproducing the compiler's own selection or arrangement, does not infringe the compilation copyright on this provision's own terms. No day on which the subsection came into force has been located.
