Section 17(8) of the KommAustria-Gesetz charges the RTR-GmbH, under the joint responsibility of both its managing directors, with building and running a Servicestelle für Künstliche Intelligenz (KI-Servicestelle).

Section 20c(1) sets the Servicestelle's purpose: a varied information and advisory offering on building competence in designing and using artificial intelligence applications, and a central service point for AI projects and applications in the media, telecommunications and postal fields.

Section 20c(2) requires the RTR-GmbH to run an information portal on projects and initiatives that use AI, in particular publicly funded ones, and requires the federal funding bodies to ensure that grant recipients then give the RTR-GmbH the essential project data.

Section 194a of the Telekommunikationsgesetz 2021 lists the support and advice that the telecommunications and postal division gives the public through the Servicestelle, including the rules for developing and using AI in businesses and public bodies, the technical documentation of AI systems, the effects of AI on cybersecurity and AI already used in high-risk areas.

Section 20c(6) sets up a Beirat für Künstliche Intelligenz (KI-Beirat) at the RTR-GmbH to inform and advise the members of the federal government and the RTR-GmbH on developments in AI. Section 20c of the KommAustria-Gesetz, with sections 17(8) and 18(3a), came into force on .
