What it makes you log
Logging duty
Section 183.006 requires a covered entity's electronic health record system to give a minor's parent, managing conservator or guardian access to the minor's record. It is a right of access to the record itself and does not require the entity to make, keep or produce a log or other record of its processing.

What this law does
A covered entity must ensure each electronic health record system it uses to store electronic health records of minors allows a minor's parent or, if applicable, the minor's managing conservator or guardian to obtain complete and unrestricted access to the minor's electronic health record immediately. Access may be restricted where state or federal law or a court order restricts access to all or part of the record.
A minor is an individual 17 years of age or younger who has not had the disabilities of minority removed for general purposes. Chapter 183 applies only to an electronic health record prepared on or after the effective date of the act that added it.
