What this law does
Ley 31944 amends article 2(e) of Ley 27489 so that a credit report issued by a private credit-risk information bureau (CEPIR) cannot contain value judgments, opinions or subjective rulings about the person it concerns.
A State institution or a public or private company recruiting for a job that wants to review a candidate's credit report must first obtain the candidate's written permission, and the report cannot be a ground for excluding or disqualifying the candidate at any stage, which the law treats as discrimination. These employment limits do not reach the banking and securities superintendencies or the entities they regulate or supervise.
