What this law does
An operator providing a product or service that uses high-impact or generative AI must tell users in advance that it runs on that AI, by stating it on the product or in a contract, manual or terms of use, by showing it on the user's screen or device, by posting it where the product or service is provided, or by another method the Minister recognizes. The indication that output was AI-generated may be given in a way people can perceive or in a machine-readable way.
A machine-readable indication must be accompanied, at least once, by a notice in text or voice that the output was generated by generative AI. A notice or indication of a virtual sound, image or video that is difficult to distinguish from reality must be given in a way the user can clearly recognize, taking account of the main users' age and physical and social conditions.
The notice and indication rules may be set aside, wholly or in part, where the use of high-impact or generative AI is obvious, where the AI serves only the operator's internal work, or where the Minister's public notice provides an exception. The Enforcement Decree took effect on , together with the Act.
