What this law does
Real Decreto 1544/2007 sets the basic accessibility and non-discrimination conditions for access by persons with disabilities to the modes of transport. Article 8(4) requires platforms and intermediaries in the contracting of taxis to have an accessible means of communication through the web and a customer telephone number accessible through text.
Article 8 bis(6) requires intermediaries in the contracting of hired vehicles with driver to have the same accessible web channel and text-accessible telephone number. The second final provision of Real Decreto 193/2023 added both paragraphs, and Real Decreto 193/2023 entered into force the day after its publication. Neither paragraph names a technical standard.
The fourth additional provision makes a breach of the decree sanctionable under the legislation on infringements and sanctions in universal accessibility and non-discrimination. The sixth final provision of Real Decreto 193/2023 sets a later calendar for the basic conditions that decree establishes, and its text does not say whether that calendar reaches the paragraphs it added to Real Decreto 1544/2007.
