Item III of Article 6 of the Consumer Defense Code makes adequate and clear information about the different products and services, with the correct specification of quantity, characteristics, composition, quality, taxes and price, and about the risks they present, a basic right of the consumer. The sole paragraph of Article 6, added by Article 100 of the Brazilian Inclusion Law, requires that information to be accessible to persons with disabilities, as regulation provides.

Under Article 56, breaches of the consumer defense rules are subject to administrative sanctions, among them a fine, suspension of the supply of a product or service, temporary suspension of activity, cancellation of a license, interdiction and administrative intervention, without prejudice to civil and criminal sanctions.

Under Article 57 the fine is graded by the gravity of the breach, the advantage obtained and the economic condition of the supplier, and is not less than two hundred and not more than three million times the value of the Fiscal Reference Unit (Ufir), or an equivalent index that replaces it. The sole paragraph took effect with the entry into force of the Brazilian Inclusion Law.
